Satan and God chewing the fat?
One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan the Accuser came with them. "Where have you come from?" the Lord asked Satan.
And Satan answered the Lord, "I have been going back and forth across the earth, watching everything that's going on.
Job 1:6-7
MY QUESTIONS:
How is Satan, the Accuser, the Evil One, able to come into the presence of the Lord?
I have been taught that God, being holy and all, has a serious problem with being in the presence of evil/sin....
So, how is it that Satan can bring his unholy self into God's presence?
And Satan answered the Lord, "I have been going back and forth across the earth, watching everything that's going on.

perhaps because satan was once an arch-angel in god's service.
Or perhaps it's because god, in infinite wisdom, choose to leave a tiny bit of goodness in all beings, thus leaving room for redemption.
Or perhaps god just needs to hear the other side from time to time to keep a proper perspective.

I loved your comment Debb!
I have often wondered if Satan truly is beyond redemption.
Many of my Christian peers are aghast when I even consider such a things...and yet, God's power and desire to love, is so much greater, and so much more, than we can possibly understand.
Why is it so inconceivable then, to imagine that God might desire to forgive and to redeem even the most evil of His creations?
If Satan came running back to God, begging His forgiveness in true repentance, would God respond as Christ described the father responding in the story of the Prodigal son?
Who knows, except maybe for God himself?

Jerri: Even though the fact that God and satan had this meeting is quite troubling when you think of it.....the end for the devil (or satan, Lucifer.....whatever name you want to call him by) is quite clearly spelled out in Revelation 20:2 and finally Revelation 20:10 where scripture tells us that satan will be cast into the lake of fire. All prophecy to this point has been fulfilled. I readily believe that this will be as well. Great question. I wish I could give you a more complete answer....and I'll do some more searching to see what I find out. Have a great night/day and God bless. :-) James

Hi James!
Thanks for stopping by and for posting your comment.
Yes, I know that the Bible tells us that Satan ends up being cast into the lake of fire.
I've always found it odd that God doesn't choose to simply destroy Satan.
Why not just blast Satan into nothingness, once and for all?
God certainly does work in mysterious ways, doen't He?
